The Bachelor of Science (Hons) in Chemistry programme aims to provide students with a strong foundation in the theories and concepts of chemistry, develop student’s analytical thinking and decision making skills and prepares them for careers as chemists, scientific officers, researchers, product technologists and even as an academician. This programme is an essential contribution to the chemical, pharmaceutical, forensics, and biotechnology industries as the programme delivers fundamental knowledge about chemistry and proper practical skills relevant to the industry. The programme content is designed to keep up with the global pace in sustainable development and a secured working environment through safety practices. The need to educate and produce highly knowledgeable and well-trained human talents in chemistry, exposed to various chemistry practices and theories, is paramount to complement various efforts by leading industries that contribute to nation’s total exports of chemicals and chemical products.

Programme objectives

Minimum entry requirements

Sijil Tinggi Pelajaran Malaysia (STPM) Pass STPM with minimum principle passes in two (2) subjects including Science and a pass in English Language
and pass in English Language at Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) or equivalent
A-Level Pass A-Level with a minimum passes in any two (2) subjects including Science and a pass in English Language at SPM or equivalent
South Australian Matriculation (SAM)  Pass with Tertiary Entrance Rank (TER) 70, and Grade B in two (2) subjects including Science
Canadian Pre-University Pass with an average of 70% in two (2) subjects including Science and pass in English Language
Unified Examination Certificate (UEC)  Pass with Grade B in five (5) subjects including Science and a pass in English Language
QIUP Foundation in Science Minimum CGPA 2.00 and a pass in English Language at SPM or equivalent
Foundation in the relevant field Minimum CGPA 2.00 and a pass in English Language at SPM or equivalent
Matriculation Certificate Minimum CGPA 2.00 and a pass in English Language at SPM or equivalent
Diploma (Level 4, MQF)  in the relevant field Pass with minimum CGPA 2.00 and a pass English Language at SPM or equivalent
Other Qualifications Other equivalent qualifications recognised by the Government of Malaysia
